This year, 2025, Catalonia holds the distinction of World Gastronomy Region.
It is the first European region to receive this recognition, which confirms the consolidation of an innovative and regenerative tourism model, where Catalonia’s gastronomic revolution goes beyond the restaurant and opens the doors to discovering the territory and its unique local food production.
At Restaurante Girona Casa Marieta 1892, we have joined this initiative, promoted by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT).
It is an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen synergies between administrations and the agri-food and tourism sectors, to further highlight all Catalonia’s heritage, agri-food and culinary network, and to promote it both locally and internationally.
At Casa Marieta, we believe that all of this is positive for our sector, as it represents one of the defining features of our land: Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine, highly valued both locally and internationally.
